Boy Scout Troop 609 of the Pathway to Adventure Council (formerly Chicago Area Council) was Chartered by the Boy Scouts of America to Morgan Park Baptist Church on February 10, 1922. Troop 609 has remained active for 95 years!
Troop 609 has the longest consecutive number of summers under our own adult leadership at Chicago Area Council’s Owasippe Scout Reservation located near Whitehall Michigan.WE BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A NATIONWIDE RECORD AS WELL!
Troop 609 started at Camp MacDonald in 1925-26. In 1927, MacDonald was renamed Camp Stuart. Troop 609 continued at Camp Stuart until the section camp’s closing in 1978. Camp Blackhawk (GO!) has been the summer camp home of Troop 609 since 1979.
